The new and the old, L’ancien et le nouveau, is the exciting debut recording from Juilliard Doctoral student and Truckenbrod artist, Isabelle Demers. Her performance on this disc provides a new look at Bach’s Prelude and Fugue in D, BWV 532, the artist’s own Organ Suite arrangement of Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juiliet, and the virtuosic Introduction, Variations and Fugue on an Original Theme, Op. 73 by Max Reger with its heart in Bach’s counterpoint and its head in the 20th Century. Recorded in the attractive acoustics of Tonbridge School Chapel, England, Demers utilizes fully the continental and English tones of Marcussen’s 4-manual tracker designed by Simon Preston.
